GRANADA
|
If you want to understand the allure of Granada, the Legend of
Boabdil says it all. Boabdil was the last Moorish King of Granada,
and Granada was the last Arab stronghold on the entire Iberian peninsula.
In 1492, after more than 700 years of Arab occupation, the Christians
took Granada, the final bastion of a glorious domain, and exiled Boabdil
from his exquisite palace, the Alhambra. As he was leaving the
city, Boabdil - a strong, sturdy and proud leader - began to weep like a
little girl. This legend has gone down in history in countless works of
art and poetry, an impressive image of a powerful man diminished by his
lament for a city, riches and beauty lost. What sort of magic could a
city contain to bring such a leader to his knees? Learn Spanish in
Granada and you'll soon find out.
Nowadays Granada is a modern city known not only for its history, but
also for its nightlife, abundant tapas and friendly
inhabitants. In Granada, the mountains are high and so is the
quality of life. Located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and
just 45 minutes from the Costa Tropical , here |
|
 |
you can enjoy beaches and
skiing, outdoor terraces and some of the best clubs in Spain.
Not quite European, characterized by Moorish architecture and the
gypsy "Albaicín" quarter, but not quite Oriental, with its
Renaissance cathedral and traditional Andalusian cuisine and tapas
culture, Granada is one of the truly unique cities of the world. |

MADRID
|
Madrid is Spain's capital and its largest city, with almost
4 million inhabitants. What Madrid lacks in ancient history and medieval
architecture - it was named the capital in 1562, a new city by Spain's
standards - it makes up for with some of the best museums in the world, the
craziest nightlife in Europe and various distinct, hip neighborhoods, each
with their own special character and something different to offer.
Even though Madrid is a huge urban metropolis, it has a high ratio of green
to concrete, with parks such as the "Retiro" and "Parque del Oeste." Join
the raucous Sunday afternoon drums circles at the Retiro, or visit the Prado
museum, which holds the most important works of El Greco, Velazquez, Goya
and much more. Art enthusiasts will also enjoy the collections at the modern
art museum, the Reina Sofia , home to a plethora of works by Picasso, Dalí
and Miró.
Madrid is conveniently located in the center of the peninsula, with ski
slopes an hour away and any Spanish destination at no more than a 6 hour
ride. |

MARBELLA
|
 |
|
Marbella, the undisputed highlight of the Costa del
Sol, is an exclusive Mediterranean resort town with some of the
best beaches in Europe. Its beautiful parks and gardens, top-notch
golf courses and picturesque old quarter, or "Casco Antiguo,"
make Marbella a relaxing yet stimulating place to learn Spanish.
Due to its geographical positioning and the mountain range that
surrounds it, Marbella enjoys a unique micro-climate. The temperature is
mild throughout the year - there are neither harsh winters nor
suffocating summers - and you can sunbathe almost everyday from June to
September.
Best of all, Marbella is just a short ride away from all the important
cities of Andalusia. Discover the new Picasso museum in Málaga,
the artist's birthplace; see the incomparable Mezquita in Córdoba; or
dedicate a couple of weekends to get to know Sevilla and
Granada, two of the most attractive cities in Spain. |
|
|
The school is constructed around sun drenched patios and outdoor common
areas - the students can enjoy the smell of the Mediterranean as they
walk between classes or take a break with friends. The location is no
less perfect: less than a five minute walk from the beach, the most
desirable shops and the best tapas bars in town. The school offers
foreign language courses for Spaniards and arranges free conversational
exchanges with these students, providing the perfect opportunity to make
Spanish friends and improve your language skills outside of the
classroom.

SEVILLE
|
 |
|
Seville is Spain's fourth-largest city and the capital of
Andalusia, but maintains the warmth and intimacy of a small town. To
say that Sevilla possesses a rich history would be an understatement:
it has seen the glory of the Roman Empire, the luxurious
sophistication of the Moors, and the Christian reconquista, which
eventually gave the city what is now the largest cathedral in the
world.
Learn Spanish in Sevilla and see where New World riches were brought
to Europe at the Torre de Oro, visit the old |
|
| Jewish quarter, the Barrio Santa Cruz, with its winding
cobblestone streets and white-washed buildings, and revel in the Alcázar,
an enchanting Islamic palace. Deeply rooted traditions such as the
convivial Holy Week processions and flamenco ferias make Sevilla a
stimulating place to learn about Spanish culture, but it is at once a
modern city with all the amenities you could want, offering activities
for all ages and tastes.
Our Spanish School in Sevilla is a historical landmark. Located in
the city center, it was constructed in the early 20th century by
the same architect who erected one of Sevilla's most |
famous monuments, the Plaza de España. You will find all
the major sites, restaurants and bars of Sevilla right in the
vicinity of our academic center.
